There is a whole world of natural and botanical perfumers out there, but for some reason, they are almost hidden. They really shouldn’t be, especially during this time of realization, and acceptance of gifts from nature. I have attempted to list and compile a page of natural perfumers, with their links. You may know some of these perfumers, but some you may not know, and I can tell you from experience, that even the unknown ones produce perfumes and other products that would blow any drugstore or department stores wares out of the water.
Natural/Botanical Perfumers
http://www.dabney-rose.com/- Dabney Rose, Authentic Flower Waters & Natural Fragranceur - This is a very pretty site, and if your a lady who likes her bikes, then you may want to check out the tins of solid perfumes and the artwork on them. Also, her creme perfume, Amberleah is one of the most original formulations I have ever seen, instead of a beeswax or plant wax base, the fragrant natural oils are added to ghee. You can also choose to have your tin pouched in vintage kimono silk. Very cool. If you are in the market for authentic hydrosols, you may want to check this site out also. Vagabond is a mysterious scent that I took delight in reviewing and testing, I believe that although it is geared towards women, that it could easily cross over to the men folk.
http://www.fragrantsoul.com/-Fragrant Soul, The Art of Divining Your True Essence- The perfumers on this site focus more on making custom blends, although they have a couple of blends available. They also do psychic readings.
http://www.mandrakeapothecary.com/-Mandrake Apothecary- This is a perfume house (I think it would be called a house) and it seems to be based in paganism and alchemy, but not in a cheesy sort of way. They have a large collection of different botanical perfumes. Their Nyx and Boadicea perfumes intrigue me. They also promise that all of their products are cruelty free.
http://illuminatedperfume.com/-Roxana Villa Illuminated Perfume-What a elegant website. Roxana Villa produces fine botanical perfumes, from high quality natural ingredients, and she also will do custom perfumes.
http://www.whitewitch.ie/-White Witch- Although this is also a supplier of natural raw ingredients for incense and perfume, I believe Ruth Ruane sells here natural perfumes here.
http://www.scentofnature.net/-Coeur d’Esprit Perfumes- This is natural perfumer’s Lyn Ayre’s perfume site, where she sells her fine perfumes, under the name Coeur d’Esprit. She also does consultations. Her perfumes have quite a following, and I know that she goes to great lengths to create high quality fragrances out of natural sources.
http://lesparfumsisabelle.co.uk/default.aspx-Isabelle Gelle- This is natural perfumer Isabelle Gelle’s site. She is French, but her products are based in the UK. Her products are considered topnotch.
http://www.heavensalchemyperfumes.com/index.html- Heaven’s Alchemy-This is a site started by a husband and wife team, and their goal is to use nothing chemical, only natural, they don’t even employ alcohol in their perfumes.Their creations are based off places, like Dublin, which is the name of one of their perfumes.
http://www.faeriemadesoaps.com/-Faerie Made Soaps- This business is from my stomping ground in Asheville, NC. Although their name mentions soaps, they are not just soap makers. They have bath and body products, and produce all natural perfumes. They line is not large right now, but I suspect that eventually they will expand their list of perfumes. I tried their Sandalwood Amber awhile back, and it was very nice.
http://www.purrfumery.com/index.php-Velvet and Sweet Pea’s Purrfumery- I love cats. Velvet and Sweet Pea grace the home page with their cute devilish kitty faces. But don’t let the light hearted home page convince that the products are not serious perfumes. The perfumes offered are natural and cruelty free, and made from the high quality ingredients. You can buy liquid, creme, eau de parfums and hydrosols.
http://www.lordsjester.com/welcome.html-Lords Jester- This a newer perfume house, but is picking up a fan base. They work hard to produce natural perfumes, using old fashioned and traditional methods. You can buy perfumes in liquid or solid.
http://www.etsy.com/shop/ForStrangeWomen- For Strange Women- This a link to a Etsy shop. For Strange Women has such a wonderful array of perfumes and products, that it’s hard to pick what you want to try first. There is a quiet darkness about the products, but at the same time they exudes a bright grace. If you want want something different, but lovely, try these out.
http://www.providenceperfume.com/-Providence Perfumes- Providence perfumes are created from natural botanicals and are the creation of Charna Ethier. Very high quality products.
http://www.etsy.com/shop/MidnightGypsyAlchemy.- Midnight Gypsy Alchemy- Yet another Etsy shop. Etsy is just bursting with talented natural perfumers lately, none of them boring or cookie cutter. Midnight Gypsy Alchemy is a unique perfume shop, with some bath and body products. They names are neat too, like The Evening Stars and Tea & Tarot. All their perfumes are perfume oils.
http://www.tigerflag.com/-Tiger Flag Natural Perfumery-This is listed in the suppliers links section, but there is also natural perfumes on this site that are, well, wonderful.
http://www.carmelperfume.com/-Carmel Perfume- This is perfumer Shelly Waddington’s site, she crafts fine perfumes, and they are very unique. It has been said there is not anything quite like Carmel perfumes, very much suggested!
http://www.perfumebynature.com.au-Perfume by Nature- What a appropriate and nicely named perfume site, right? A perfume house based in the central coast of Australia, they incorporate aromatherapy into their lovingly made perfumes. You can buy there regular eau de parfum or the same version, but it’s more concentrated, and based in jojoba. For all you gourmand lovers (or just those crazy about chocolate), there is their much loved “Death by Chocolate” and for the forest-hearted, “Pan”.
http://www.joannebassett.com/-Joanne Bassett Perfumes- Glorious natural perfumes are offered on this site, made by natural perfumer, and Southern Californian resident, Joanne Bassett. This is a elegant site, and she also offers authentic and quality perfume ingredients. I also suggest that you take advantage of her offer to make custom perfumes for yourself or someone you love.
http://www.tambela.com/perfumes.php-BellyFlowers-This site carries their perfumes under the name BellyFlowers. Under their Southern Blooms theme, they have a cologne called “Spiral” that if is anything like it’s description, must be divine. Also, the site offers natural soaps, and canine needs, so dog lovers, check it out.
http://www.etsy.com/shop/faunfare-Faunfare- This is another Etsy shop link. Faunfare creates natural perfumes, with a pagan core to it. They have a very loyal customer base, and their prices are wonderfully affordable. These come out of Australia.
http://anyasgarden.com/-Anya’s Garden- Anya McCoy is a natural perfumer, who is also president of the Natural Perfumers Guild. This is her site that she sells her perfumes under the name, Anya’s Garden.
http://www.artfire.com/users/CrushedVelvetandRoses-Crushed Velvet and Roses- I found this little gem on artfire, they are small, but they are all natural. The perfumes have awesome names like “Lulu Honey Vamp” and “Crazy Bitch Aromatherapy Stress Relief Oil”. Don’t underestimate them because they are small, with the ingredients they use, their products pack a wallop of fragrance.
http://www.artfire.com/users/Unique_Garden- Unique Garden/Unique Garden Essence- I actually have two links for this perfumer and formulator. Unique Garden Essence is not well known, but what I have heard, they are good perfume oils. The names are smoothly simplistic, like Daisies, a white floral and Fairy Nectar, sort of extreme floral. The perfumer makes a effort to use natural oils, but has said that she uses fragrance oils if she has too. She also makes a large line of tempting cosmetics and soaps. Here is the other link:http://www.etsy.com/shop/uniquegarden
http://www.etsy.com/shop/ArabesqueAromas-Arabesque Aromas- Arabesque Aromas is another brilliant perfumery you find om Etsy. I had the pleasure of reviewing and wearing their perfumes, and it was an amazing experience! She does period and .t they are reflect the talent of the perfumer, which is tremendous. Serafina is one classy perfume, and the others are great too.
Providence Perfumes - Charna Ethier is the perfumer here, this perfume business has a lot of loyal customers, and seems to be a favorite.
African Aromatics-rSophia Du Toit really knows her aromatics! But not only is her site a wealth of information, she is also producing exotic nature scents. Knowing Sophia, there will probably be some rare aromatics in her creations, and who better to do it? I know she employs some very, very old perfumer tricks for extraction and creation. I heavily suggest to those that like the exotic, and a taste of Africa to try her perfumes….
Aftelier.com - Mandy Aftel site, who was made natural perfumes for the famous. She is also the author of ‘Essence and Alchemy’, a book that is good for beginners, that introduces newbies to natural perfumery. She has a big fanbase.
Beehive Alchemy-uI love the little bee logo of this site. This place carries 100% natural perfumes.Good things here…
Esscentual Alchemy -Perfumer Amanda Feeley’s site. She carries very high end perfumes! A good selection too!
House Of Matriarch Christi Meshell is the “nose’ for this perfume house. I can tell you from experience that the perfumes here are made from very high grade natural materials, a lot of the ingredients seem to extracted right there at the house. “Forbidden” is a high class fragrance that I reviewed, and I believe this perfume and house has the potential to become a master perfumery, excellent stuff
DSH Perfume - Dawn Spencer Hurwitz is the perfumer here. Here, a majority of the ingredients are natural, not all though. However some of her fragrances are completely natural, so I have added this link. She has one numerous awards and the fragrances are much loved.
Divine Life Perfume - Perfumer Ragna Rostad-Ruffner’s Etsy link. Not only are there pure botanical perfumes, she also sells skincare products made from natural materials.
The Mindful Mushroom- An Etsy shop. I reviewed some of their stuff, and I have to say that her stuff is pretty unique, their scents are not traditonal at all, and I really like the vibe of products. Also they are some ver tempting mineral based eyeshadows here…
