  • Blue Ridge Valley Kyphi

Traditonal Kyphi was a part of the ancient world as a common, mystical perfume and incense, particularly in Egypt. Although scholars and incense/perfume enthuaisist have different theories on what some ingredients were in the original Kyphi recipes, it is known that the ingredients included were somewhat sacred to the people of that time,  some ingredients being frankincense, wines, fruits, resins, woods, etc. However, in our version of Kyphi, we did not follow the tradional recipe. What we did here was included some original ingredients, but at the same time added aromatics that are somewhat special to the people of the Blue Ridge Mountains. In our Blue Ridge Kyphi you will find the ancient blending with the energy of the Blue Ridge people, the smell of resins of a time past, of berries picked in the summer evening by those skipping on the golden road of childhood, the notes of metal from a newly set up still, wafting it’s scent down from the foothills. The smells of fruit fallen from trees, of the shavings of a medley of woods from the wood yards, the very slight hint of apples that hang on the women as they sing traditional ballads from the old mother lands, and of a deeply secretive, but strong people.

  • Hijacking!!!

Hi everyone! This is Eric, I decided to hijack this blog for an entry! It has been a very fragrant week here at the Haus. Thanksgiving smelled wonderful, and the poultry seasoning I made I couldn’t resist also burning. It was very nice! (Pretty smokey though) I just wanted to say thanks to all who have purchased some of our incense. Every cent goes towards our own incense addiction, hopefully we can sell enough to pay for the ones we test ourselves! Anyway, I would also like to take this chance to also tell everyone about http://www.ecclecstacy.com/.  They also have good products, and are very friendly! I use them whenever I need Makko powder and other various incense ingredients. They also have a very nice eBay store, which is where I first found them. Boudoir and Lounge table pics coming soon!

  • The Haus of Waft (Us), Launches Two Incense Blends, Golden Ground & The Watching Man, and We Remind You to Support Outlaw Perfumes

Yep,we did it. We launched some incense of our own. When we were forming the incense into cones, well mostly me, I was distracted by a TV show about plastic surgeries gone wrong, and I formed the cones larger than usual. My folly can be your pleasure. These incense cones are rustic, almost primitive, in scent, their making inspired by nature, and my over active imagination (The Watching Man). Golden Ground has many inspirations, the autumn, the last years of a life lived long, peace, and the fragrance of flowers near woods. The Watching Man goes somewhere else. Everyone, or at least the people that decorate my little world, has felt that feeling like they have are being watched in the woods, or anywhere near nature, and you are, by The Watching Man. He is far older than us, has seen your fore fathers hunt, love, live and die. He saw what you did that time you skipped a day of school, and he watched you eat the last piece of pie at the family picnic, the time you blamed it on your great aunt. Since he has been around since before time existed, smells of many things, of roots he uses to grant that wish of love you have over small wildfires, of floral tiaras thrown by care free girls onto the ground from years ago, and of mystery.

We want to remind our scent loving readers to support and applaud the outlaw perfumes and perfumers out there. They have said to hell with IFRA’s unfair and most likely, shady restrictions on natural, tried and true extracts, and decided to make some perfumes that include these extracts. Many essences are safe, but called unsafe, because some people did not use proper sense when applying them or they were allergic, but our ancestors will tell you that they used these oils on their skin all their lives. So Be Free Outlaw Perfumers!
